KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knox County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's input as it considers turning converting a piece of county-owned property into a driving training track for law enforcement.

The sheriff's office said the property they are considering to convert is located at 6101 Foote Mineral Lane in Knoxville. The area is located near Ball Camp Pike and Amherst Road.

Knox County has owned the 55.5-acre wooded area since 1985. The parcel is listed in county records as "unused land" that lies just inside Knoxville city limits. The piece of land is also adjacent on three sides to residential areas.

KCSO said residents and community stakeholders are invited to a meeting on November 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 9076 Middlebrook Pike
