CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Opening statements could begin as soon as Friday in the trial of two men accused of killing a beloved NoDa businessman.
Terry Connor Jr. and Steven Staples are charged with killing Scott Brooks, co-owner of Brooks’ Sandwich House, during a robbery in December 2019. Brooks ran the popular eatery with his brother, David.
On Thursday afternoon, all but one of the four alternate jurors were seated. Jury selection began nearly two weeks ago.
David Brooks told us he plans to attend every day of the trial. He said he can do that thanks to extra help from The Hill Bar and Grill in Mint Hill, which is covering shifts so the Brooks family can focus on court proceedings.
