More changes are underway at CBS’ “ CIA ,” the latest “FBI” offshoot. Showrunner Warren Leight , best known for his work on multiple seasons of “Law & Order: SVU,” has stepped back from his role as showrunner.
In July, Leight took over the role from David Hudgins . Sources tell Variety that Mike Weiss, the current showrunner of “FBI,” is in talks to take over while also continuing to showrun and executive produce “FBI.”
Production will be pausing on “CIA” briefly during the showrunner transition, but it is not anticipated that the changes will impact the premiere date, currently set for mid-season.
The one-hour crime drama is led by Tom Ellis and “Chicago Med” alum Nick Gehlfuss , who play “two unlikely partners – a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (
