AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A man who got cold feet and went on the run before his scheduled court date has learned his new sentence.
Coby Rance Mason, 22, was originally scheduled to appear in 181st District Court on August 26.
Mason was arrested in November 2024 for his third charge of driving while intoxicated, a third-degree felony.
In Texas, a third-degree felony carries a punishment range of up to 10 years in prison.
Mason’s appointed counsel had secured a plea deal of five years in prison.
However, the day he was supposed to show up at Randall County courthouse , Mason packed his bags and left the city.
The judge granted the State’s motion to forfeit Mason’s bond and agents began searching for the runaway defendant.
