AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- Organizations across our area continue to fight hunger as leaders in Washington try to come up with a solution.
But one Augusta woman is taking matters into her own hands to feed the community.
The government shutdown is now the longest in American history.
With questions and few answers about when SNAP benefits will restart, Tajuana Caldwell says she wants to do everything she can to help.
“We have a big family. I have 10 grandchildren and 17 grandchildren—we know the struggle," said Caldwell.
Caldwell and her husband, Gerard, are stocking up on food supplies, preparing for an event they’re calling “Feed the Kids”---they say it’s their goal to feed at least 200 people.
