ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Proposal One is a complicated measure, centered around the Olympic winter sports facility, Mount Van Hoevenberg in Essex County.

It passed with just more than 52% of the vote, 150,000 more yays than nays.

The measure brings previous expansions at the site into state compliance, and allows for 2,500 acres of new land to be purchased to expand the Adirondack Preserve.

NEWS10 spoke to an Adirondack Council representative, who explained what may happen next.

“Well, the next steps are working with the legislature to approve a parcel for acquisition," said John Sheehan, Director of Communication for the Adirondack Council. "The Department of Environmental Conservation will have to go out and purchase a piece of property on behalf of the state."
