AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Republican leaders including former Gov. Paul LePage hosted a food drive Thursday.
It was an annual tradition when LePage held office, but he says he’s bringing it back due to the suspension of SNAP benefits, also adding he hopes the government shutdown ends soon.
LePage is now running for Congress in Maine’s Second Congressional District.
We asked him about Jared Golden’s Wednesday announcement that he would not seek reelection.
“I think he did a good job, he did the best he could. He worked hard, and I commend him for serving the people of Maine. The sad part about it is the reason why he’s not running, is the violence, and I feel bad for that. I feel bad that he’s a young man, he’s got a young family, they’re just growing up, and I’m a dad, and that’s the one
