KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Wednesday, new Jackson County Executive Phil LeVota announced that the county will follow the Missouri State Tax Commission's 2024 order.

It means residential properties will increase by no more than 15% from that year. What does that mean for many residential homeowners? Property tax credits.

People who own their homes will not be getting refunds from that year. Your 2025 tax bill that gets mailed out in the middle of November won't have that tax credit on it either. The tax credits will come on your 2026, 2027, and 2028 tax returns. If you appealed your 2023 assessment and you agreed to the amount the Board of Equalization came to, do not expect a tax credit on future bills.
