AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - For countless CSRA families like Kyrie Juchemich’s, effects of the government shutdown hit close to home.
So as the effects have gotten more significant, Juchemich started her own food drive to help her community.
“My husband’s currently furloughed. We’re lucky enough to have like a stock of food pantry at home. So thinking kind of along those lines, like, we have this and other people don’t, so why don’t we help out where we can?” said Juchemich, owner of Lazarette St. Bakeshop.
Community members find purpose in helping neighbors
Many people in the community have found a purpose lending a helping hand, even to neighbors hesitant to reach out about assistance.
