CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Residents are urged to clear leaves from storm drains to prevent flooding and slippery road conditions as windy weather has caused leaves to accumulate on the streets.

The recent windy conditions have led to a significant number of leaves falling from trees, which can block storm drains and cause water to pool on roads and in basements. This can create hazardous driving conditions and potential flooding in homes.

"So use extra caution if you're driving on roads that have a lot of leaves on them, especially when it's wet, because wet leaves can be slippery and pose a driving hazard," said Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis. When storm drains are clogged, water cannot flow properly, leading to large puddles on streets and potential water damage to homes.
