Joe Allen, a Metro Detroit native who previously worked as a federal prosecutor in Detroit, has been ousted by President Donald Trump from his position as internal watchdog for the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) in Washington, D.C., which has targeted the administration's foes with mortgage fraud investigations, Reuters reports.

Allen was the acting inspector general of the agency, which is headed by Bill Pulte, who has aggressively pursued Trump’s opponents for alleged mortgage fraud. Allen is a graduate of Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Township and the University of Michigan.
