BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- It doesn't look like much now, but construction is underway for a popular local eatery making a return to downtown Bakersfield.

Construction has begun on a new Taco Bros location at 24th and K streets in downtown. The new location is set to include a drive-thru and serve items from its three restaurant brands -- Taco Bros, Pasta Bowls and Brunch-n-Burger.

There is no estimated date for opening but in a social media post, Taco Bros says says they hope to open in "a few short months."

Taco Bros is coming back to downtown after closing its 23rd Street location back in 2020. That location was leased by Wells Fargo, but Taco Bros' lease was not renewed and the small shack was eventually demolished.

Taco Bros has four other locations in Bakersfield.
