JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Starting Friday, Nov. 7, the Federal Aviation Administration will reduce flights at 40 major airports across the country . Flight experts say they expect the move to cause widespread delays and cancellations.
The FAA says the flight restrictions will limit air traffic by about 10% as staffing shortages and the ongoing government shutdown continue to strain the nation’s air system.
Paul Hudson, president of the nonprofit FlyersRights, says travelers need to brace for possible disruptions — and plan smarter before heading to the airport.
“If your flight is canceled or excessively delayed, you’re entitled to a refund,” Hudson said. “And if your trip is under 500 miles, consider ground transportation instead.”
