MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Local pediatricians say they are seeing more cases of a highly contagious virus commonly seen in children, which can also be seen in adults.

It's most commonly seen in children under the age of 5, but no one is immune.

Health experts say hand, foot and mouth disease is spreading in several parts of the US, including Mobile.

"It spreads like a cold, sneezing, coughing, walking through that mist of the cough and the sneeze or when you have hands, foot and mouth, it can also be in, stool and your bowel movement so that if you aren't doing good handwashing, you're spreading around when you're trying to diaper it can also, the blisters, if you're touching a surface, can lead live virus," Infirmary Pediatrics Board Certified Pediatrician Mary Wells said.
