HINCKLEY -- The next generation of loggers and forest truckers graduated on Thursday, November 6.

For 20 weeks, 15 students took part in the Professional Logging Contractors of the Northeast's Mechanized Logging Operations and Forest Trucking (MLOFT) program. A program, according to executive director Dana Doran, that's bounced around Maine since beginning in 2017, but has been at Kennebec Valley Community College since last year.

"And we actually know that it's going to be here for at least another one to maybe two years," said Doran.

He says the program is capped at 16 students per year, with dozens more left on a waiting list.

"We haven't had a full program, this full, since 2019," said Dana. "So, it's actually great news that the industry is seeing kind of a resurgence of interes
