LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

The UPS plane involved in Tuesday's crash spent six weeks at a maintenance facility in San Antonio, Texas, according to the NTSB at a press conference on Thursday.

The MD-11 freighter was actually in the process of being phased out by the company.

We found records from September that detail two separate, recent issues with the 34-year-old aircraft.

One record shows maintenance discovered a crack in the center wing upper fuel tank, and the part that was cracked was a lower stringer.

This is a long, slender beam that is a structural component of the plane.

Another record lists corrosion on a longeron, another structural component.
