LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At least 13 people are dead and nine are still missing after a horrific plane crash in Louisville on Tuesday.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said a UPS cargo plane departing from Louisville's Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) to Hawaii crashed shortly after taking off around 5:15 p.m. Videos show one of the plane's engines on fire prior to the deadly crash.
Just before 5 p.m., UPS identified the three crewmembers onboard during the crash as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt and International Relief Officer Captain Dana Diamond.
Teamsters Local 89 , which represents UPS union workers, is hosting a candlelight vigil Thursday at 5 p.m. in honor of those impacted by the tragedy.
