Flight reductions ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration began Thursday at Logan International Airport — one day earlier than expected, officials said.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said during a press conference Wednesday that he would order a 10% cut in flights at 40 major airports due to air traffic control staffing shortages caused by the federal government shutdown . He said the cuts would start with a 4% reduction on Friday, then increase to 10%.
Officials at Massport, the agency that operates Boston’s airport, said in a statement on social media Thursday afternoon that they have begun to see cancellations for Friday.
