MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A City of Mobile Swim Association coach is being recognized for her work with both national contenders and beginners.

Cheryl Corvo, the lead Masters swim coach at CMSA, won the Kerry O’Brien Coaches Award after a single nomination — an honor that usually takes far more. There are more than 2,500 Masters clubs in the United States, and only 10 coaches receive the award each year.

“I add in a little bit of everything, whether you want to, train at that, higher level because you have goals of competing, (or) if you want to be like, hey, I just want to do this for fun, for fitness,” Coach Corvo said.

CMSA members said Corvo’s passion, dedication, and heart help swimmers at every level feel comfortable — from top ten competitors to beginners swimming their first laps.
