GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - What a way to kick off a special doubleheader at the O’Dome. Those in attendance watched sophomore standout Liv McGill nearly shatter the record books with a mind-boggling 38 points. She was three points away from tying Lavender Briggs, who scored 41 against Arkansas in January 2021.
In the second quarter, the Gators were down 28-24 to the (1-1) Mocs. Until McGill rallied her team, scoring 14 of the 23 points to end her half at 19. She continued the scoring onslaught with another 19 in the second, along with a season high of 10 assists and seven steals.
Me’Arah O’Neal netted her second straight double-digit performance to open the season with 14 points, 10 boards, and two blocks. Alexia Dizeko ended her night with 11 points and five rebounds,
