ALVA, Okla. (KFOR) — Police have released bodycam video of a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred in Alva early Monday morning.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Woods County Sheriff's Office, alongside the Alva Police Department, responded to a welfare check near North Second Street and Mill Street after receiving a 911 call. When officers arrived, contact was made with 26-year-old Jalin Scott Willyard.

Police say that when speaking to Willyard, he displayed a firearm and pointed the weapon towards officers, resulting in the shooting. Willyard was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSBI says the investigation is ongoing at this time.

An attorney for the Alva police officer involved in the shooting provided the following statement to News 4 on Thursday.
