Local health officials outline ThriveOBX initiative for Dare Commissioners

The simplest way to describe Dare County’s ThriveOBX program, in the words of Outer Banks Health Director of Operations Amy Montgomery, is a “community initiative designed to inspire well-being and longevity.”

Montgomery, along with Dare County Health & Human Services (DCHHS) Director Sheila Davies, laid out the details of that initiative in a presentation to the Dare County Commissioners on Nov. 3.

“We are implementing Thrive as we speak,” Montgomery told the Dare Board. In an email to the Voice, she added that “We are building the plane while we fly it.”
