Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has issued an executive order aiming to ease the water issues that have rocked a northern Torrance County community for months, leaving residents of the Melody Ranch neighborhood near Edgewood without reliable water service.
The neighborhood of about 75 homes has been grappling with water shutoffs since May because the well that feeds the community water system, operated by Melody Ranch Water Co. LLC, has more or less run dry, producing only about 5 gallons per minute. Until recently, residents were calling the small utility each morning to see when they would have water, and could usually expect water to flow from their faucets for three to four hours a day.
