MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) - On a farm outside Mandan, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin met with North Dakota growers, even as his agency braces for more furloughs. On Wednesday, he gave the state control to regulate its own coal ash .
In Washington, Zeldin oversees about 15,000 employees who work to enforce environmental laws across the nation.
On Wednesday, Zeldin sat behind the wheel of a combine instead of his desk in the nation’s capital. He drove the harvester on the farm of Bill Price just outside of Mandan, partly in show and partly in support for American farmers who work to protect the land that provides their livelihoods.
Inside Price’s machine shop, Zeldin talked to producers and politicians about ethanol, setting standards for pesticides, water and air quality.
