Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she will not seek re-election at the end of her term in 2027 . The announcement marked a nearly four-decade career in Congress and as a dominant force within the Democratic Party.

"With a grateful heart, I look forward to my final year of service as your proud representative," Pelosi said in a video addressed to her constituents in the San Francisco Bay Area .
