The Frederick County Board of Education has edged closer to finalizing an updated policy that would continue to allow students to play on sports teams and use restrooms that match their gender identity.

Since May, the school board's policy committee has wrestled with updating Policy 443, which is the school district's gender identity affirmation policy, to be in line with case law and the First Amendment.
