Silchar: Police in Cachar district on Thursday arrested yet another fake doctor, taking the total number of such arrests over the last three months to 18.

The accused, identified as Shekhar Acharya , a resident of Poilapool under the Lakhipur police station area, was allegedly posing as an MBBS doctor for a long time and defrauding people.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid and apprehended Acharya. During the operation, police also seized several forged certificates and documents used by him to establish his false identity as a qualified medical practitioner.
