NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) -- The scars of the 2005 tornado are still fresh for those that were affected including First Christian Church in Newburgh, where some say they are still trying to find their identity 20 years later.

“I remember the entire landscape of my hometown in this area was completely changed,” Holly Gillespie said. “I can feel my heart racing just remembering that moment driving and seeing the complete devastation.”

The November 6 tornado destroyed many homes and buildings in Newburgh. First Christian Church's brand-new building in Newburgh was caught in the destruction as members were preparing to move out of their previous building.
