CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The race between Cleveland Councilman Danny Kelly and challenger Tanmay Shah is headed to a recount after Shah ended election day with a seven-vote lead, well within the margin of error.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections will now recount every single vote to ensure the number is correct. That is expected to take weeks.

“The Board has to determine whether the votes were properly cast and whether it is clear what the voter is doing,” Professor Jonathan Entin, law professor at Case Western Reserve University said, “There may well be room for people to disagree about what a particular ballot is marked, so this will take time.”
