KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Western Michigan University community is reacting to the news of the death of Marshawn Kneeland.
He was a star player at WMU, before being drafted to the Dallas Cowboys.
For student Micah Werden, the news of the death of the West Michigan native hit close to home.
“I got the news before it hit social media because my coworker's sister is Marshawn Kneeland’s girlfriend," Werden said. "Then we actually found out what happened. It was just like, wow, that's crazy.”
13 On Your Side caught up with Werden and others before WMU’s basketball game Thursday night.
Although Donovan Lewis doesn't go to WMU yet, he followed Kneeland’s ascension to the NFL.
