SHREVEPORT, La. — A Caddo Parish jury convicted Carldeaundre Morgan, 29, of being a felon in possession of a weapon on Thursday.
The six-man, six-woman jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict after deliberating for less than 30 minutes.
The charge stems from an April 6 incident where police, responding to a suspicious person call, found Morgan wearing a ski mask at a CVS Pharmacy on North Market Street. During a safety pat-down, officers discovered a concealed 9-mm pistol in his jacket pocket.
Because Morgan has two prior felony convictions, prosecutors plan to seek sentencing as a habitual offender. Morgan faces a prison term of at least six years and eight months, and up to 40 years, without parole. Sentencing is set for Nov. 18.
