A Hattiesburg woman died early Thursday after being struck on Highway 49 in Forrest County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. A 2003 Ford Expedition driven by 61-year-old Teashia Armstrong was traveling north when it became disabled and stopped in the right lane. Armstrong was outside the vehicle when she was hit by a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 24-year-old Michael Tanner of Wiggins.

A northbound 2013 Ford F-150 driven by 47-year-old Sandy Cook, also of Wiggins, then collided with the Silverado.

Armstrong died at the scene. Tanner and Cook were not injured, MHP said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
