Labour is set to build tens of thousands of new affordable and social homes in “Red Wall” areas as it looks to fight off the threat from Reform.

The Government will give regional mayors in heartlands such as Greater Manchester, the West Midlands and the North East a “record investment” of £7 billion to build new social housing.

It comes as polling shows Labour is increasingly under threat from Reform in the North of England and the Midlands, having lost control of key councils such as Durham and Doncaster in May’s local elections. New Feature
