MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A grandmother who has been waiting for justice since March after her grandson was murdered at the counter of a convenience store praised her higher power when she learned the suspect in the case was in police custody.

"Thank you, Jesus! Lord, I thank you!" exclaimed Karen Echols.

The grandmother was jubilant after hearing that 21-year-old Kamari West will now face a charge of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting her grandson, Jaden Echols, just before midnight March 23, 2025.
