The Pueblo East Eagles hosted the Pueblo County Hornets at Dutch Clark Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 6, in an inner city showdown and a matchup between 3A Southern League opponents.
It was a win-and-in scenario for both Pueblo East and Pueblo County.
The Eagles had suffered a heartbreaking loss to Coronado the previous week, while the Hornets came in off a big win over Canon City.
The Eagles looked to be in control of the game early on with a score by Dolphka Lewis and a fumble recovery by the defense for a scoop and score. They added a third touchdown in the first half to take a 20-0 lead. But the Hornets were able to score a last-second touchdown to end the first half down 20-7.
"This team has been resilient all year, and they're just a fun group,” Enriquez said of his team's resilience
