At least 10,000 much-needed new affordable homes will be built across the West Midlands following a huge cash injection.

The Government announced the region would be backed by £1.7 billion to enable the construction of social and affordable housing and help families get out of temporary accommodation and off waiting lists.

And West Midlands Combined Authority said at least 10,000 homes will be built over the next decade from April next year.

It was also announced Mayor Richard Parker will work with Homes England to shape the way the region delivers its Social and Affordable Homes Programme.
