Rehoboth Beach officials want to acquire federal and state historic designations for the boardwalk, and they’re seeking task force members to do it.

"The Rehoboth Beach boardwalk is iconic," Mayor Stan Mills said in a statement. "It has been around since 1873, and while it has been rebuilt several times over the past 250+ years, it is a symbol of Rehoboth Beach that everyone knows, recognizes, and enjoys. Just as the City of Rehoboth Beach has a historical marker, so too should the boardwalk itself."
