At least 54 people, mostly students, were injured after several explosions struck a mosque at a high school in Jakarta, Indonesia, during Friday prayers, police confirmed.
The incident took place around midday at SMA 27, a state high school located inside a navy compound in the Kelapa Gading area of North Jakarta.
Witnesses said they heard two loud blasts just as the sermon began. Panic quickly followed as worshippers ran for safety while thick grey smoke filled the mosque.
According to Jakarta Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri, most of the victims suffered wounds from flying glass and debris. While many were treated and discharged from nearby hospitals, around 20 students are still receiving medical care. Three of them are reported to be in serious condition.
