Teachers and education specialists around the region got a financial boost recently through grants from the Education Credit Union Foundation.

ECU Foundation awarded 162 classroom grants to educators across 33 Independent School Districts, and 102 campuses throughout the Texas Panhandle, through its 2025-2026 Pocket Change Grants program. It aims to empower local teachers by funding creative, hands-on classroom projects, and experiences that might not otherwise be a possibility.

The program is funded through ECU employees who donate “Pocket Change” each pay-period, as well as donations accepted from individuals in the community. Since its launch in 2009, the program has now distributed $1.15 million in grants to teachers.
