KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WILX) - In a shocking upset Thursday night, Northwood, a D-II school, took down the Western Michigan men’s basketball team 85-81 in Kalamazoo.

The game only counted as an exhibition for Northwood, who took down a D-I opponent for the first time since 2005 when they defeated Central Michigan 92-71.

The Timberwolves were led by senior forward Parker Day who scored 20 points in the win. Former Okemos High School star Will Young also shined in the upset notching 11 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST, 3 STL and 2 blocks.

Western Michigan (1-1) is led by former Michigan State assistant coach Dwayne Stephens who is in his 4th season as head coach for the Broncos. They will try to rebound from the loss on Sunday, Nov. 9 when they travel to Campbell.
