For a brief four days next week, the Sun Valley Museum of Art will host its first student exhibition in nearly two decades.

“Exhibitions are ephemeral,” said Dianne Sánchez, the museum’s director of learning and engagement. “This one is especially ephemeral.”

The exhibition also has the distinction of having a strong student voice in the curatorial process as well as in the artwork. When Courtney Grant, the museum’s curator, suggested mounting a student show to fill a gap of a little less than two weeks between when the museum’s current exhibition ends and the next is installed, Sánchez quickly marshalled the museum’s student interns to work on it.

“Why are we doing a student art exhibition if they’re not part of the process?” Sánchez asked.
