MONTEAGLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Repairs after a rockslide on Monteagle Mountain are going to force TDO crews to close lanes on I 24 on Friday.

The slide happened on Tuesday.

But after monitoring the site overnight, engineers determined it’s going to take more work than they thought to stabilize the bank that collapsed.

A contractor will have to install stronger concrete barriers and remove some of the rock.

So I 24 West will be reduced to one lane for several hours.

And we can expect some rolling roadblocks.

This is just the short term fix.

TDOT Geotechnical engineers will have to figure out a long term solution.

You can check ahead online at the TDOT map to see how the traffic towards Nashville is being affected.
