China’s rapid expansion of its missile production centres since 2020 has emerged as a significant challenge for the United States and its allies. According to a CNN report, recent satellite images have revealed this covert expansion.
The report indicates that currently, China has 136 sites linked to its Rocket Force (PLARF) and defence production, with more than 60% of these sites undergoing substantial expansion over the past five years.
The satellite images depict new factory towers, bunkers, and test centres, with some missile components even stored outdoors. The construction area of these sites has increased by approximately 2 million square metres from 2020 to the end of 2025. Many villages and farmlands have been transformed into military complexes.
