Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido on Thursday announced plans to develop a car parade on Gratiot Avenue to celebrate America’s 250th birthday on Independence Day 2026.

The Shelby Township Republican said he envisions a mobile procession through several communities that would include residents, community organizations, elected leaders, and car clubs on the morning of the Fourth of July.

Titled “Macomb 250,” Lucido said he is paying for expenses out of his own pocket for commemorative T-shirts, hats and pins for volunteer organizers and participants to wear. At the end of the parade, he expects a short lunch picnic to wrap the event.
