Diablo IV has been out for a long while now and it faces that existential crisis that all live service and MMO games have to contend with - how to keep the experience fresh for the people who have been there since the beginning.

Regular updates are the way that most game developers usually do that and it works quite well for the most part, assuming the updates take the game in the right direction.

The thing about Diablo specifically is that so much of the game, for a sizeable portion of the player base, is about pushing the limits and taking on more and more difficult challenges.

Whether that means raising the difficulty of specific bosses or adding entirely new ones, Blizzard has to keep finding new ways of challenging players to keep them on the hook.
