If you’re a Star Trek fan and you like Lego then your year has just been made, with an incredible new U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D set.

For over 25 years, Star Wars has been one of the cornerstones of Lego’s offerings, for both kids and adults. Plenty of other science fiction properties have been turned into Lego sets too, from Dune to Avatar, but there’s never been any official Lego sets based on Star Trek… until now.

Rather than doing the obvious, and starting with the original series Enterprise, the first Lego set is the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-D, i.e. the Enterprise from The Next Generation TV show from the late 80s and early 90s.
