OMAHA, Neb. —
Kellom Elementary School in central Omaha has been awarded $2,500 as part of the Cash In For Schools program, aimed at enhancing educational experiences that budgets can't cover.
KETV and our sponsor, Thrasher Foundation Repair, delivered the check to November's winner, Kellom school psychologist Lindsey Sheets.
Sheets said the money will go to their newly launched garden club.
"I asked some of the kids if they'd be interested in gardening and they said yes because they've never done it before," she said.
Sheets will use the money to purchase gardening supplies such as a tiller, shovels, rakes, rocks, mulch, plants and vegetables.
"They're learning a lot of skills in terms of working together and teamwork," she said. "But I think it's a lot of life skills our kids would
