A prominent UK kitchen supplier has gone into administration, resulting in the loss of all jobs after 51 years of operation. Ceramique Internationale Ltd, along with its associated companies Rowmarl Ltd, Spectrum Tiles Ltd, and Euxton Tile Supplies Ltd, has ceased trading, leaving 59 employees without work. The companies, which operated under the Earle Group and Full Circle Group, faced significant financial difficulties despite attempts to secure funding. Christopher Ratten and Matthew Haw from RSM UK Restructuring Advisory were appointed as joint administrators on October 27. Founded in 1974, Ceramique Internationale specialised in sourcing tiles from leading Italian and Spanish manufacturers for residential and commercial projects. However, the firm struggled to meet its financial obligations, leading to the closure of operations on October 24, just days before the appointment of administrators. The Euxton site, which employed the majority of the workforce with 36 staff members, was particularly affected. Following the administration process, the focus has shifted to liquidating the companies' assets, primarily consisting of tile stock and site fixtures. On October 31, these assets were sold to two newly established companies, Euxton Tiles Ltd. and Ralee Group Ltd. This collapse comes shortly after another significant failure in the retail sector, as Fired Earth, a high-end homeware chain, also entered administration. The closure of Fired Earth resulted in 133 job losses, with all 20 of its UK showrooms shutting down. Only its head office and warehouse in Banbury will remain operational to fulfil existing customer orders. Dane O’Hara from Leonard Curtis, the administrators for Fired Earth, noted that the company had been loss-making for some time, with a reported loss of £1.7 million in its most recent financial year. The challenging market conditions and rising costs contributed to its downfall, leading to the decision not to provide further funding without a viable turnaround strategy. As the administrators work to process claims from former employees of both companies, the impact of these closures highlights the ongoing challenges faced by businesses in the current economic climate.
