Shana O’Gara has been named Minisink Valley’s new softball team, replacing Bruce Guyette.
O’Gara played for Guyette at Minisink Valley, graduating in 2005, and served as his assistant the last two seasons. Guyette was informed last month by Minisink Valley Superintendent Brian Monahan that he would not return after leading the program for nearly four decades.
Guyette, 66, ends career with 647 career wins, the second-most in state history, 13 Section 9 championships, and two state titles (1992-93). O’Gara had been expected to be the heir apparent to her mentor when his decorated career was over. She took over for Guyette following his suspension on May 7 of this year.
