Owen Kenney, the 19-year-old Tinton Falls resident who had been missing in South Carolina since Halloween, took his own life, authorities announced Thursday, Nov. 6.
Detectives said Kenney, a student at the College of Charleston, took his own life after walking onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway at 3:49 a.m., Charleston police said.
Charleston police said they have shifted from search operations to recovery efforts as they aim to bring closure to Kenney's family.
"Our priority has always been and will remain Owen’s family," Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker said. "This is a real case involving a real family living through unimaginable pain, and they deserve compassion, privacy, and support from all of us.”
